Although abstracts in the above focus areas will be given
priority for presentation, all abstracts
describing excellent research on malformations and morphogenesis,
regardless of the topic or
organ system, will be considered.
Please Note: In the interest of complete
disclosure of information, any platform or poster presentation that
includes a novel gene or finding, the presenter must give the name and
location of the gene. If a presenter is not prepared to fully disclose
this information, it should not be included as an abstract and not
presented at the meeting.
ABSTRACT - Please note that the format of the abstract is changed.
The bottom margin is 3" and will provide more room for you to take
notes about the presentation or poster. These margins will still provide
for an approximately 400 word abstract, which is substantially longer
than the 250 word limit for abstracts in most major journals.
Abstracts are to be submitted electronically by email as a Microsoft
Word attachment. Please
conform to the style of the abstract format, and adhere to the following
specifications:

REGISTRATION
Registration
forms will be available in June 2012 after abstract acceptances.
Registration information will be emailed to those with accepted
abstracts and will also be available in June 2012 on the website:
www.dwsmith.org.
FELLOWS
Participation by fellows and post-doctorate students is encouraged.
Fellows/post-docs are invited dependent on acceptance of an abstract of
research supervised and coauthored by their sponsor participant. We are
currently seeking funding to provide support for travel and registration
for some fellows that, if realized, will be awarded on a competitive
basis determined by abstract quality.
TRAVEL
The meeting will be held at the Legacy Lodge and
Conference Center at Lake Lanier Islands Resort (www.lakelanierislands.com).
Housing reservations will be made on the Registration Form.
Participants should plan to arrive Wednesday
afternoon, August 8th in time for registration (3:00 p.m.6:00 p.m.) and a
casual reception . The meeting will conclude Sunday afternoon, August
12th. Departures should be planned for late afternoon August 12th.
The local airport is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta
International Airport which is 52 miles from the resort. Information
regarding group transportation options will be provided.
